SBC hosts Caleb Behn in Conversation, March 24th and 25th, as part of our current exhibition, Talk Show.

 

March 24, 2pm to 5pm, Caleb Behn in conversation with invited guests.

 

March 25, 7pm Artist, Émilie Roby and Caleb Behn engage with Indigenous iconographies and their embodiment to play out the ways in which the circumstances of witnessing bring into being a network of responsibilities.

 

Caleb Behn is Eh-Cho Dene and Dunne-Za/Cree from the Treaty #8 territory of Northeastern BC.  He completed his undergraduate degree at UNBC and he holds a Juris Doctor degree (Concentration in Environmental Law and Sustainability) from the University of Victoria. Caleb Behn is currently the Executive Director of the Keepers Of The Water Society as well as a Research Associate at the University of British Columbia Program on Water Governance.  Prior to his legal career he was the 'Oil & Gas Officer' for the West Moberly First Nations and the 'Lands Director' for the Saulteau First Nations.  

 

 

Caleb's research and legal work has focused primarily upon environmental and aboriginal legal issues in the context of unconventional energy development.  Caleb is the subject of a forthcoming documentary film entitled, Fractured Land  exploring the impacts of energy development on indigenous peoples. 

 

Caleb Behn in Conversation is presented as part of SBC's spring workshop and speaker series with the support of the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts.
