Sharlene Bamboat's residency continues at SBC galerie d'art contemporain!
We are delighted to invite you to an evening of presentations and screenings of her new installation on Friday, July 5, starting at 5:30pm.
The artist will present her latest film “Both, instrument and sound”, accompanied by a talk by Natalie Kouri-Towe (in English).
This will be followed by an informal bilingual discussion with the artist and the researcher over a drink.

Sharlene Bamboat is an artist based in Tiohtià:ke/Montreal. Her practice engages predominantly with moving-images & sound to explore translation, history and fractured ways of understanding the relationship between the self and the social in transnational contexts. She collaborates frequently with artists, musicians, writers and artist-run collectives and organizations. Her work has exhibited internationally.
Natalie Kouri-Towe is an Associate Professor of feminism and sexuality at the Simone de Beauvoir Institute at Concordia University in Montreal, QC. She has published her research in both academic and non-academic venues on topics related to sexuality, solidarity, pedagogy, kinship, and attachment within the contexts of social movements, gender and sexuality studies, and activist responses to conditions of war in the Middle East. Her research and teaching draw on feminist and queer theory, affect studies, transnational feminism, anti-racism, cultural studies, masculinities, securitization, migration, and digital media.
