Le Mois de la Photo à Montréal and SBC Gallery of Contemporary Art present Aujourd’hui (dates-vidéos), video and photographic work by Claire Savoie.



Since 2006, Savoie has accumulated more than 500 video snapshots in which she records brief moments in her daily life. This ongoing work explores the basic elements of the human experience by examining single moments in the artist’s own life. Displayed in calendar form, the complexity and substance of the subjects are revealed by carefully creating interaction between the image, text and audio elements. These mini-videos present a wide-angle view of the infinite montage that compose each human subject. This exhibition marks the first time all of the date-videos will be shown in their entirety.



Claire Savoie’s works create friction among senses, emotions, language and reason. She has had a number of solo exhibitions in Canada, including Maintentant (2007) at the Musée régional de Rimouski and 05.02.2006 - 05.02.2007 (2007) at Centre VOX in Montreal, and her works have been in numerous group shows including Avancer dans le brouillard (2004) and Femmes artistes (2010) at the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec. Savoie was the recipient of the Prix Louis-Comtois in 2005. Savoie was born in 1957 in Richmond, Quebec. She lives and works in Montreal.



Lucidity. Inward Views is the theme proposed by Anne-Marie Ninacs for the 12th presentation of Le Mois de la Photo à Montréal. For the occasion, 25 solo exhibitions will be spread throughout Montreal, transforming the city into a vast and coherent group show.
