As part of the public program Writing With The Body, we are delighted to invite you to an intensive workshop, centered on the work of prominent Chicana feminist, queer, and decolonial thinker Gloria Anzaldúa. Aimed at cultural workers, educators, and artists, the workshop will explore Anzaldúa's radical reimagining of borders, broadening our perspectives on identity, spirituality, creativity, and knowledge. Led by researchers and cultural workers Marcela Borquez and Renata Cervetto, the intensive workshop seeks to move beyond theoretical discussions of Anzaldúa's work to engage in action-oriented practices with the intention of contributing to reflections on cultural mediation, alternative pedagogies, and community building within the context of Montreal.
The workshop will highlight the importance of the body and collectivity in the learning process, reflecting Anzaldúa’s deeply personal approach combining text, image, and multilingual expression. Commemorating the 20th anniversary since the passing of Anzaldúa, the workshop invites attendees to discover her work and develop tools that connect her legacy to their own artistic and educational practices.
